Instead of a typical conference based on finished work, our goal is a generative workshop – one that people will leave with new possibilities for thinking and collaborating. The workshop will be organized around the short 1,000 word thought pieces submitted by each participant. The pieces, due by December 16th to mfwofford [at], are to be responses to these three questions, in any order or format:

  1. What are the most urgent research questions to address about KI? Why?
  2. Identify a KI whose survival is under threat.
    a. What led to these threats? Over what time frame?
    b. What actions or changes in circumstances might lead to its survival?
    c. What will be gained or lost, by whom, if this KI fails to survive?
  3. How do KI spread information? Misinformation? Alone and in combination with other infrastructures?

Participants thought pieces will be posted on this website for comments and reflections prior to the workshop. The organizers will cluster these pieces to form the topic groupings for half-day sessions, each with plenary and breakout discussions.
